Managed Accounts

Discretionary portfolios, run to your mandate

You can appoint us to manage a defined strategy, a particular part of a portfolio or a broader portfolio. We agree the mandate with you first. Within those boundaries, we take responsibility for the investment decisions and ongoing portfolio management.

Where it fits

The scope depends on what you want to retain

The useful question is which decisions you want to keep and which you want us to take responsibility for. In some relationships we manage one component. In others we are responsible for the broader portfolio. The scope should be clear before we begin.

Broader portfolio construction

We can take responsibility for asset allocation, security and manager selection, rebalancing and ongoing portfolio management within an agreed mandate.

A defined strategy or sleeve

You can retain responsibility for the broader portfolio and appoint us to manage a particular asset class, strategy or allocation.

Portfolios across an advice business

An adviser group or AFSL can delegate portfolio construction and ongoing management while retaining responsibility for the advice and client relationship.

A delegated mandate

An investment team, family office or committee can set the objective and constraints, then delegate investment decisions within those boundaries.

About these figures

Source: Bloomberg PORT. Returns are annualised total returns since inception to 31 October 2025. Volatility is annualised standard deviation since inception. Growth / defensive shows the strategy’s target allocation. All five strategies were launched in July 2015, so their return and volatility figures cover the same period. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance.

Fee

0.25% per annum of funds under management

We charge a fixed percentage of funds under management, so what we earn rises and falls with the value of your portfolio. We do not charge a performance fee.

What sits outside it

Platform administration, transaction costs and the management costs of any managed fund or ETF held within the portfolio sit outside our fee. Which costs apply depends on the mandate and how it is implemented, and we work through them before appointment.

Why there is no performance fee

A performance fee places additional weight on the result achieved by a particular date and creates an incentive to take more risk as that date gets close. We would rather not have that sitting behind our investment decisions.

What we don’t get paid for

No manager pays us for research coverage or a product rating. We receive no rebates, shelf-space payments, distribution fees or referral fees from platforms or fund managers. We do not run a broking or trading desk, investment banking, corporate advisory or capital-raising business.

Tell us what the mandate has to do

If you’re considering delegating a strategy, part of a portfolio or the broader portfolio, tell us what you want to retain, what you want us to manage and any constraints that matter. We can work through whether one of our existing strategies fits or whether the mandate needs to be client-specific.
